Crowds gather for October Career Fair at KSU Stark campus

JACKSON TWP.: Rain didn't keep the crowds of employment seekers from attending the October Career Fair last Wednesday.

By the time the fair began at 11 a.m., the parking lot was filled to capacity. The free function was held at the Kent State University Stark Campus University Center.

"I really do need to get a job and this is a great way to see who is hiring in our area," said Canton resident Jessica Smith. website states that the unemployment rate in Stark County is 8.2 percent. More than 70 different companies were on hand looking for potential employees. Most companies encouraged job seekers to fill out online applications, but some did accept paper resumes at their booths.

Although most of the companies represented did not hire on the spot, representatives did share information about the different positions available in their organizations. holds this career fair in the fall and spring. They encourage all job seekers to keep looking online at the website for updates on openings.
