Jackson Local Schools announce upcoming back-to-school events

Jackson Local Schools is gearing up for the 2013 - 2014 year by hosting a number of back-to-school events.

Current and new Jackson School for the Arts students and parents are invited to attend a picnic from 5 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday in the Jackson High School commons. Students will be able to meet staff, get information about the program and see performances.

All incoming sixth graders are invited to orientation at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Jackson Memorial Middle School.

Jackson High School will host all incoming ninth graders at its orientation scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Incoming Jackson Academy for Global Studies students and parents will attend the Cook Your Culture orientation night at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the High School commons. Staff will be on hand to offer important information for the upcoming school year.

Amherst, Lake Cable, Sauder and Strausser elementary schools will open their doors to students and parents at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Aug. 20 will mark the first day of the 2013 - 2014 school year in Jackson Township.
