JACKSON TWP.: The 4th Annual Friends and Family Day was held this past Sunday at the Canton Temple of Praise in Jackson Township. More than 370 people were expected to participate in the fun-filled day.
"Our goal is to reach out to the community and try to get people involved in the church through public activities," said Lou King, event coordinator.
King's wife, Aundria was responsible for alerting the public of the day's events. "We mailed out flyers to households all over the area. We also encouraged members of the church to invite friends, neighbors, and family," she said.
The day's events included all kinds of activities for children, including a bounce house, games and a clown. Adults were invited to participate in cornhole and basketball tournaments.
There was plenty of food to choose from, including burgers, hot dogs, and delicious homemade desserts.
Roosters Restaurant in Belden Village donated the ice and Dairy Queen provided the burgers and dogs at a low discounted price. There were also plenty of gift certificates handed out for free brownies at Chick-Fil-A.
"We are lucky to have many caring businesses in the area that want to help," said Aundria King.
