National College seeks to attract new students in the new year
The newest college in Jackson Township continues to grow and hopes to attract more students in the New Year.
National College opened in February and so far, has 50 students. The college, which started in 1886, has 30 campuses—seven of those in Ohio -- in six states.
"We are a military friendly college and offer a veteran retraining assistance program," said Kelly L'Amoreaux, administration representative for the college. The college also offers many programs for its students, including tutoring programs, national business partners, and career counseling services.
Currently, the college offers healthcare, business, and computer science degrees. Associate degrees can be obtained in a year and a half. There is also an average of one teacher to every 15 student.
"The small classes give it a family feel and students are able to get to know everybody," L'Amoreaux said.
Classes include lab practices and internships with local businesses.
"We teach what is happening right now and always try to stay current," L'Amoreaux said.
L'Amoreaux added the college offers competitive prices for classes and programs.
"Book purchases are included in the tuition, there are no parking fees and no outside tutoring costs, so we are a good choice for students worried about money," she said.
