Santa visits National College during holiday event

JACKSON TWP.: Santa Claus made a visit to National College on Thursday night to the delight of area children. The free event started at 5 p.m. and included a chance to talk to Santa, have some refreshments, and even make some ornaments for Mom and Dad.

"This is the first year that we have been opened and we wanted to do something for the community," said Jill Morrow, campus director. The event was opened to kids of all ages.

The line to visit Santa was very long, but the children did not seem to mind.

"It's nice to have this tradition and the kids seem very happy," said Kelly L'Amoreaus, administration representative.

Students of the college, as well as staff volunteered their time for the event.

"Everyone pitched in and did a lot of work, including baking cookies, dressing as Santa, and coordinating the event," Morrow said.

Canton resident, Judy Shaneyfelt brought her two sons to the event.

 "They are having fun and it's nice to have a free event during this time of year," she said while the boys, David and Austin, were busy working on a craft project in the crowded recreation room.

National College opened its doors in February and hopes to make this an annual event. The college is located at 4736 Dressler Road N.W. in Jackson Township.
