The opening of a new business, especially a restaurant, can be a daunting task and for Miso Express owner, Chuen Yiu, the last nine months have been very challenging.
"We were planning on opening sooner, but I have had some family things to deal with," Yiu said. Yiu welcomed a new baby boy and had to travel to Hong Kong to tend to her sick father, but with hard work and patience she finally opened Miso Express on Thursday.
"The first day was very busy," Yiu said. "We had a big crowd especially between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m."
Yiu is hoping that her drive-thru business will really pick up. She is currently training new employees to be quick because she doesn't want the drive-thru customers to have to wait very long. The restaurant also features a dine-in area, and according to Yiu, the first day was very busy in the eat-in dining room.
Miso Express offers appetizers, such as spring rolls, satay chicken and tempura. Their specialty is hibachi grill and sushi. Tuna, lobster and California rolls are included on the menu as well as several different kinds of rice, sushi and salads. Any two sushi rolls are $7.99 with prices as low as $3.50 and running up to $12.95. Yiu is hoping that working people in the area will consider her restaurant for a quick, economical, healthy bite for lunch.
Yiu also plans on hiring more employees and encourages people to apply. "We are in need of good people to run the cash register and handle the drive-thru," she said.
Miso Express is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
The restaurant is located at 5151 Fulton Drive N.W. in Canton. For more information or to place an order, call 330-305-9888 or 330-305-1888. If you would like to apply for work at Miso Express, please see owner, Chuen Yiu.
