A new Italian restaurant called Piada opened Friday. The restaurant prides itself on offering authentic Italian food in a casual, comfortable atmosphere.
"We have been very busy since opening on Friday," said Chef Matt, Manager and head cook for the eatery.
Piada has been in business for two and a half years. They are based out of Columbus and now have 10 restaurants open in Ohio. They offer piadas, which are thin crust dough made from organic flour topped with your choice of meat, vegetables and sauce. The menu also includes pasta, fresh salads, soup, chicken, steak and calamari just to name a few. Although Piada is considered a fast food restaurant, they also offer wine and beer.
On Monday afternoon, the line to order food was long and almost heading out the door.
"We are lucky to be in such a beautiful spot close to the mall and shopping,” Matt said. “There are always people around this area and so far the line has been long.”
The restaurant gives customers the chance to create their own piadas, pasta bowls and salads by using a list of ingredients to mix and match as they please. The Chef said that being able to create your own meal is very popular with new people coming in for the first time. The Piada website also gives people a chance to share their creation.
What makes this restaurant different from other fast food places is that their food is authentic Italian street fare. Everything is fresh and made to order. Piada is located at the corner of Dressler Road and Belden Village Street in Jackson Township. For more information on menu choices, nutrition and locations, visit www.mypiada.com.
