The Jackson Township Community Celebration is scheduled June 26 through June 29, 2013 at the North Park. Several donations have been made to the community celebration including $100 from the Paul & Carol David YMCA, $100 from Don Smith Auto Parts, Inc., $100 from Burnham & Flower Agency of Ohio, $500 from Canton/Stark County Convention & Visitors Bureau and $500 from Fallsway Equipment Company.
Jackson township trustees approved a liquor permit application, which will allow beer to be served at the event. They also entered into an agreement with Bates Amusement, Inc., which will set up and run rides and accepted entertainment contracts for at least two bands.
The township is also accepting applications for booth rental, food vendors and participants who are interested in running the 5k "night glow.” The event will begin from 6 to 11 p.m. June 26 and run through June 29 with a spectacular display of fireworks.
Last year's event was a huge success with attendance well over 50,000 for the four day event. The 5k Nightglow race also set a record with 1400 participants. The celebration began in the 1950's as a Fireman's festival and remains the township's largest and most popular event.
If you would like more information about the event or are interested in booth rental or applying for a food vendor license, please contact the parks department at 330-832-2845.
